Fantasy Site: Groupal (Meetup.com)

Drupal: 1h 12m
Information

In this Do it with Drupal presentation Karen Stevenson has cloned Meetup.com in Drupal and called it Groupal. Hear how Karen incorporated Organic Groups with events, locations, rsvps, photo galleries, and activity streams, all stitched together with Panels and Views. In the process of building this out we had to analyze which of several alternative modules to use for location, signup, activity stream, photo gallery and other functionality. Karen will discuss why we picked the modules we did and will note others that might work as well or better in other situations.

There is a related article on Lullabot.com, Display Suite: Building Fancy Teasers Without Custom Templates, that explains some of the work that went into this project.

Nice One! Glad these are up already.

This was great. Are the source files hosted somewhere?

+1 for the source files. Please? :)

agentolivia & h4rrydog - The file are posted now. Enjoy!!

Thx!

anyone able to get the site to run? tried to restore these files/db in a quickstart vm and just seem to be getting a WSOD.

Can anyone please guide me on how to set up the sample site she provided? I have Acquia Dev Desktop up and imported this folder and created a DB named "groupal". I did a sql dump of the groupal.sql on.
When I go to the site, it just display a blank page.... please help!

I wish the drupal vanity norm of overlaying the person talking would end. Why must we stare at the people giving the lessons? It makes it harder to read the screen.

And there is something to fear getting lessons from someone who was tasked at remaking a site in Drupal, yet does not know how to use a computer, namely how to resize a window (zooming out instead? really?).

love the sync of the screens with the overlay featuring the presenter.
