Drupalize.Me will be offering our Drupal 8 Theming workshop at Twin Cities DrupalCamp on June 22nd. Your $30 camp registration gets you access to any of the Thursday workshops, including ours, as well as two full days of sessions and social events. And it’s going to be awesome. So register now and make sure you get a seat.
The workshop is based on our Drupal 8 Theming Guide, and consists of presentations, exercises, and discussions. We’ll cover:
- How the Drupal theme layer relates to the rest of the system
- Common theming terminology and processes
- How to override any of Drupal's HTML output
- The relationship between base themes and sub themes
- Everything you need to know about Twig when working with Drupal templates
- How to add both custom and third-party CSS and JavaScript libraries
- Tools for introspecting and debugging a theme
- Tips and tricks for using common front-end development tools like CSS preprocessors and task runners, in conjunction with Drupal

In addition to the theming workshop, Amber, Blake, and I will all be in attendance at the camp. I might be biased as I live in Minnesota, and help plan the camp each year, but this continues to be one of my favorite Drupal events of the year.
Amber and Blake will be doing a reprise of their popular Alexa and Drupal session from DrupalCon Baltimore. There, you can learn how to develop Alexa skills connected to a Drupal backend, as well as see how the Internet of Things can be used to link physical spaces with Drupal applications. I learned a lot, and laughed a lot, when attending their session at DrupalCon. Recommended for sure.
The camp will be hosting the traditional community sprint day on Sunday the 25th. I’ll be helping to facilitate a documentation-focused sprint. I plan to work on filling out the documentation for Drupal 8 core modules, updating URLs in the source code for Drupal 8, and converting @code examples in core to use the new short array syntax. I’m also happy to help you learn to document your contributed modules, understand the new documentation guides/pages and related tools, or just talk with you about general documentation and how you can get involved. Find me on Sunday and earn your sprint merit badge.

If you’re a Drupalize.Me member, or are curious about Drupalize.Me, camps like this are a great opportunity to talk to us in person about the training we provide. We’re always striving to make Drupalize.Me the #1 resource for learning Drupal 8 and would love to hear where you think we’re doing well, or falling short. So if you’re at the camp in June say hi, get a sticker, and ask us some Drupal 8 questions.

I am from EGYPT.
Are you recording the sessions on video?
I am interested to watch the replay.
Thanks
Hey Mohamed, the sessions from the camp will be recorded and accessible here after the camp: http://2017.tcdrupal.org
The training will not be recorded. However, if you can't attend in person the training is based off of our Drupal 8 Theming Guide, and you can learn everything we cover in the training and more from that.
