Countdown to DrupalEasy

Step 1, install Drupal.

Sounds simple, right? Wrong. For someone still pretty new to the world of web development, I found it challenging. In fact, “What is Drupal?” more accurately describes where I was when I joined the Osio Labs team last summer as People Support. No synapses fired. No flashing light bulbs.

For the last year, my primary role has been to provide support for Drupalize.Me. We have the largest collection of Drupal training videos anywhere. That means there’s a lot of content and learners to support. But from my first day, I was also intrigued by the tutorials themselves. I soon realized I wanted to learn Drupal -- in addition to supporting other learners! A few months back, something really exciting happened: Osio Labs gave me the time and resources to do just that -- learn Drupal. I’d begun teaching myself coding two years ago and this was an amazing opportunity to expand my knowledge base.

Since then, it’s been a whole new world for me. It’s been exciting to learn about an open-source content management system that millions of people and businesses around the world use to build and maintain websites. It’s also been slightly intimidating to navigate this new terrain alone.

Now, lucky for me, I don’t have to! Beginning August 26, I’m taking DrupalEasy’s Drupal Career Online program and I’m thrilled to be taking this next step in my Drupal journey. Wish me luck! Or better yet, come along for the ride! I plan on blogging about it here. If you’re a beginner like me, hopefully there’ll be something to aid you in your learning process, to encourage you when you’re feeling stuck, or to support you on your own road to Drupal proficiency.
