Today we're excited to roll out a new installment in our series on Building Websites in Drupal 7 with Panels. In the continuation of this series, I will be walking you through modules and functionality provided by Panels, CTools, Page Manager, Views, and more.
In lesson 8, Styling Panel Panes with Stylizer, I walk you through the extensive settings provided by Stylizer module. Stylizer is an elaborate CTools Style Plugin that provides an interface for changing the styles in a panel pane. (Stay tuned for my upcoming series on CTools Style Plugins where I show you how to create your own plugin using the CTools API.)
Next up, in lessons 9 and 10, we'll look at how to integrate Views into the process of site building with Panels, through the use of Views Content Panes. This provides a type of display that allows you to pass on configuration usually contained within the View on to the pane settings form. I'll walk you through some basic Views Content Pane settings as well as how to use both exposed and contextual filters as pane pane configuration.
Then, in lessons 11 and 12, we'll get to build some custom user pages and custom hierarchical taxonomy term pages using a combination of Page Manager, Panels, and Views.
Next week, we'll continue this series on Building Websites in Drupal 7 using Panels and explore what you can do with related modules such as Mini-Panels, Panel Nodes, and Panelizer. You'll also learn how to create your own custom layouts for use in Panels. Finally, we'll wrap up this series by walking through several ways to export Panels, Page Manager, and Panelizer configuration for deployment on another instance of the site.
For now, enjoy this week's release and advance your knowledge of building websites using Panels!
